In Memoriam

GOODWIN, Robert Joseph 1927-2008
Bob was a dedicated member of the Canadian military while a serving member and as a proud decorated veteran. MWO Goodwin (Goodie) served in the Navy (RCNVR) from 1944- 1946, served as Sea Cadet Officer from 1947-51, and then joined the Dental Corps in 1951 until retirement in 1973, so that he could become a civilian denturist. Immediately following retirement, he and his wife (also a military member as a WREN) made Kingston their home. Bob owned and operated the Robert Goodwin Denture Clinic from 1974-1997. He was an active community member and inspired the same from his children, grandchildren and his friends. His longtime associations were with the Cataraqui Association, friends of HMCS Cataraqui working to foster good relationships among the naval family and the local community, and the Kingston Branch of the Navy League of Canada, a youth development support organization. For 60 years he was associated with youth development in his community. Bob volunteered each year to speak to both the local Navy League and Sea Cadet Corps in preparation of Remembrance Day and the local services. His message was always informative and inspiring.
